Masood Karim is currently the Executive Director of Aviation and Professional Consulting (APC). The company provides consulting services Aviation/Airline/Air Forces Safety, Accident Investigation, Safety Management System, Safety Risk Management System, Aviation Quality System, IATA Operational Safety Audits, and ISO 9001 Quality Audits, Safety Audits, Industrial Safety (OSHA Standards), Automotive Safety, and Airport and Aircraft security. The company has been in operation since 2006 while the company management provided professional development consulting and training services in Ohio from 1987 – 1992. The faculty of APC offers over 150 years combined experience in aviation training, safety management, and auditing.
Mr. Karim has been in the aviation business since 1975. He has over 27 years of instructional experience in aviation safety, risk management, human factors, aircraft systems, auditing, coaching and professional development. For the past 19 plus years, he worked for Saudi Arabian Airlines, an international flag carrier, operating under part 121 rules. This experience included providing safety consultancy, ground instruction, safety management and propagation, safety and quality audits, accident investigations, research and development, and project management.
Mr. Karim’s earlier experience includes operations management, managing student unions/student organizations’ activities, and performing personnel audits at the Ohio State and John Hopkins universities. Before migrating to the USA, Mr. Karim worked for the Pakistan Air Force as a fighter pilot (Captain-Retired due to medical fitness after crash of his Mirage IIIEP aircraft in 1982). His other assignments included accident investigations, administrative duties, and safety management.
With him, Masood brings demonstrated experience in planning, developing, and delivering safety programs and training for operators, pilots, cabin crew, and management. He is a pilot, accident investigator (Member ISASI), auditor (IOSA, ISO 9001-2000), project manager (Member PMI), writer, and an IATA Accredited Instructor for SMS and Human Factors. Masood holds a Masters degree in Administrative Studies from Ohio University and a B. Sc in Aero Sciences from University of Peshawer. He is well known in the safety world for his dedication and devotion to the mission of safety. He has brought his education, experience, and associations to his consulting business. He is well aware of the aviation safety challenges faced by Middle East and African regions, culture, and needs of management and crew.
